On Thursday, September 30, FACSS members met with UF majors and minors in Chinese to find partners for two-way language exchange at Pugh Hall 120. This meeting was organized by the faculty of the "East Asian, Chinese Program" (EAC) in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.
The faculty presented a brief introduction to the Chinese degree program and showed video clips from its study abroad progams in Chengdu and Beijing. One of the faculty members also described the "Chinese Conversation Hour" program, and invited FACSS students to attend future meetings. Then individual students were asked to introduce themselves and explain why they are studying Chinese. FACSS students attending for the first time were also invited to introduce themselves. Following this was the main event, when all the students "mixed and mingled" to arrange language partners. About 80 students attended the meeting. We look forward to coordinating more events with these students.
Every UF gator is welcomed to our biweekly meeting. Please check our website for new event announcements.
